I pray that more and more people who claim the name of Christian will become more Christlike as you have done by leaving behind the errors of the past which have caused so much pain and suffering for gay and lesbian people. I promised Amy that I would be the first person to comment when this was posted, and that’s a promise I am happy to keep now. I’m not going to thank Amy again for speaking up for me – that’s just what friends do, as she’s taught me time and again – but rather simply second what she has to say, implore all of us having these conversations to treat each other well, with open minds and hearts – and say that it means a lot to be part of this conversation at all. There has been too much darkness and heat over the years – let there be light instead.
