Joan was always there for me when she was one of the best teachers ever, and Charlotte, you and your family were the fabric and backbone of our church, which I will never forget. God bless you both!

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.”

How touching. Joan told me briefly about it a few years ago. I’m so happy for you both! When I was depressed in high school Joan ask what was happening and talked to me for a long time, loaned me the book,”When Bad Things Happen to Good People” and generally made sure I felt as safe as could be expected. I will always cherish that. Thank you for the article and much continued happiness to you both.

Because of growing up with yours and Joan’s active present in the church, I remember being surprised as a teen/young adult to find out that the Covenant Church did not accept gays & lesbians…and was quite disappointed by it. It’s one of a few reasons why I now attend a Unitarian Universalist church.

I like the stuffed grape leaves. Joan doesn’t even eat them.

Bless you both! Does Joan know how to make stuffed grape leaves? 😀 If I could have I would have traveled from Oregon to be there. You both are extraordinary human beings! Cheers!

You speak for many in the Covenant family seeking to answer God’s call in their lives and how best and where to live that out.
