Both of you have been and will always be very special in my life. Joan was always there for me when she was one of the best teachers ever, and Charlotte, you and your family were the fabric and backbone of our church, which I will never forget. God bless you both!

Charlotte & Joan, I admire the strength of your faith, as it enables you to share your testimony with so many. Both of you have dedicated your life in serving our Lord. He led you to a place where both of you could fulfill His purpose in your life and you followed His lead.

I was crying reading about your wedding! How touching. Joan told me briefly about it a few years ago. I’m so happy for you both! When I was depressed in high school Joan ask what was happening and talked to me for a long time, loaned me the book,”When Bad Things Happen to Good People” and generally made sure I felt as safe as could be expected. I will always cherish that. Thank you for the article and much continued happiness to you both.

Great article Charlotte! Because of growing up with yours and Joan’s active present in the church, I remember being surprised as a teen/young adult to find out that the Covenant Church did not accept gays & lesbians…and was quite disappointed by it. It’s one of a few reasons why I now attend a Unitarian Universalist church.

thanks for sharing your story. i have been very lucky to have been able to spend a few years in your lives and in your home caring for ruth. i was in school when joan was a grumpy gym teacher (lol). i was very touched to be asked to witness your union. i think you are both a wonderful part of our community.
