I am an `active` Covenant clergy and very much appreciate that you have provided a place for conversation and a voice for those who are so often denied a voice in our denomination.

You have created a welcome place for people to come as they are and to share their stories, whatever their stories entailed.  I want to thank you for sharing your own stories which mean so much and have created space for others to share as well. You have done so with  courage and integrity at cost to yourselves. I respect you so much and am moved by the way you live out your faith.
I also want to thank you for inviting my family to share our hearts, our struggles, and our story here. There is something so freeing about that, to have a place to name out loud our journey, and we were deeply touched by all those who responded with such love and support.
This blog has a special place in my heart because of that, and because it has brought people into my life who walk this journey painfully alone, which is something I just can’t bear. The God of all compassion is Emmanuel, God with us, who journeys besides us and asks us to journey alongside of others with compassion as well. I pray we as God’s people can be welcoming and loving just as we have been welcomed and loved by God.

It has been wonderful to meet Andrew, Bob and Bev. Very weird  to discover that Bob and I started NPC the same year. It has filtered back to me that ministers who are sympathetic have been told not to get involved if they value their call to another church. What keeps going through my head is Burke saying, “For evil to flourish let good people say nothing.” Doug Cedarleaf sure influenced me in the ten years I was at NP Church.Wish we had more like him. I’m only too aware of the fear. Just spoke to a friend in the midwest, who is terrified I will out her, and will lose her family and friends.

Thanks so much for this place. It does take energy. Bless you for all you say and do.

Thanks George I really appreciate your kind words. Give my regards to Denver – I spent some good years there.    Phil Brockett

Given the conservative and fearful culture on this human issue in the CC, it take some reall amount of courage for you to make such a public advocacy, for Christ’s sake. Please keep the door of expression and public witness open wide. There are many who stand with you, they are on the side of the Holy Spirit’s movement throughout history to open hearts as wide as God’s merciful heart. What God creates is good!

Perhaps this is the shove that will move us past dead center on the issue. Here’s hoping that’s true.
